VOCALS - GUITAR
Alice Van Daalen, professionally known as Alice Sea, is a singer-songwriter, lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, music producer, DJ, dancer and performing artist with a lifelong passion for music and the performing arts. She has self-produced four albums available on Spotify, toured internationally and explored a diverse range of musical styles throughout her career.

With a strong musical foundation in classical piano, Alice studied through to Grade 5 with Trinity College London before exploring jazz flute, lead vocals and a wide range of musical genres. She has also studied elements of vocal technique through Anne Peckham at Berklee College of Music, bringing valuable knowledge and practical experience to her work as a vocalist and vocal tutor.

Now based on the beautiful Bay of Plenty coast, Alice is a proud mother of two and is passionate about sharing her love of music with the next generation. She has recently received funding from NZ On Air to complete her children's music project, Mermaid Alice Sea: The Great Ocean Adventure, celebrating creativity, music and connection with the ocean.

Alice is passionate about creating engaging, hands-on music and band workshops for children. She also leads vocal workshops and choirs, encouraging people to discover their voices, develop their musical abilities and experience the joy of making music together.

Alongside her performing and teaching career, Alice works in therapeutic and wellbeing settings alongside psychologists, supporting women through trauma-sensitive ACC groups, authentic self-care and self-compassion retreats, and guided inner journeys. Drawing on her extensive musical background, she incorporates a diverse range of sound-healing instruments to create immersive soundscapes that encourage relaxation, reflection and connection.

Alice's teaching approach is warm, encouraging and tailored to each individual student. She meets every learner where they are at, breaking new skills into achievable steps so they leave each lesson feeling confident, inspired and excited to practise. She believes music education is about more than learning an instrument or developing vocal technique; it's about nurturing creativity, building confidence and helping each person discover their own unique musical voice.

Alice is thrilled to be returning to Mauao Performing Arts Centre to share her knowledge, experience and passion for music and dance with the community.
